Robert Mueller will soon be testifying before not one, but two House Committees. He will be laying out all the details of Donald Trump’s scandals and alleged crimes that he’s uncovered in his two-year investigation.
House Intelligence Committee Chairman Adam Schiff appeared on Chris Hayes shows on MSNBC this week and revealed that House Democrats are in negotiations with Mueller about testifying and that he expects them to reach an agreement of some kind very soon. Schiff said that when Mueller comes before his committee, part of it will be public, but the rest will be behind closed doors. When Mueller sits before the House Judiciary Committee, it will all be public.
Schiff also confirmed that there is no way Donald Trump or Attorney General William Barr can stop this from happening. If Barr tries to order Mueller not to testify, Mueller can just resign from the DOJ and do what he wants. Mueller’s spokesperson already announced that Mueller’s employment will be ending in the coming days, so really this isn’t a possibility at all.
Since Schiff and the other Democrats have taken control of the House, they’ve been taking various steps to force the FBI into briefing him on the Trump-Russia counterintelligence investigation which is still ongoing. Bottom line is there’s still more work to do and the House Dems are not showing signs of slowing down anytime soon.
