According to sources, in July, House Budget Committee Chairman John Yarmuth will be hosting a “town hall” headed by Dr. Bandy Lee, a professor of psychiatry at the Yale School of Medicine and editor of the bestselling book “The Dangerous Case of Donald Trump.”
During the event, Dr. Lee will allegedly present her findings on Donald Trump’s mental stability and how they make him an unfit threat who is unworthy of the office of the president of the United States. Lee will be fielding questions asked by members of the audience as well as others that are tuned into the event via the internet.
“We are planning to do something where she can make a presentation to other members, so that they’ll be aware of what she’s been working on,” Yarmuth told The Hill.
Of course, the event is already receiving a ton of scrutiny, as Trump has never been treated by Lee or any of the psychiatrists mentioned in her book. Additionally, the American Psychiatric Association (APA) frowns upon its members speculating about the mental state of a public figure of Trump’s stature.
“Even though none of them had actually treated Trump, they in their practices, and their experience, they recognize certain patterns of behavior, and when it’s their professional responsibility to alert people who may be endangered by someone’s behavior,” Yarmuth said. “And in this case it’s the American people.”
Nevertheless, the event is set, and aims to address what most Americans already believe to be true. And for “the malignant normal” or those who no longer see what is wrong, destructive and pathological as abnormal and accept it as normal, Yarmuth and Lee hope it will awaken them once and for all.
