Michael Avenatti, the lawyer for Stormy Daniels, is working relentlessly to bring down popular vote loser Donald Trump. And it might just work.
Imagine that, after collusion with a hostile foreign government and years of obstructing justice to cover it up, the thing that could bring down the President of the United States is an affair and cover-up with an adult film star.
Avenatti has filed a suit with a federal judge alleging that Trump’s lawyer Michael Cohen, or someone working for him, is leaking audio recordings seized in the FBI raid on his home and office:
This particular case against Michael Cohen is not associated to Avenatti’s case with Stormy Daniels or to the Robert Mueller probe. However, Avenatti did suggest to the FBI that the March raid be conducted.
While the cases are not associated, they are all connected by Michael Cohen, who took payments from Russian oligarchs and used the money to pay Stormy Daniels the $130,000 hush money, which started the avalanche of activity surrounding Trump’s financial dealings.
Michael Avenatti believes the leaked recordings “relate” to his client, Stormy Daniels, and that they are “meant to paint a false narrative relating to Mr. Cohen and his business dealings,” also pointing out that the recordings between Cohen and other high-profile people were left out, like conversations with the president himself.
It’s worth noting that this is the same judge that forced Cohen to reveal Sean Hannity as his third client. So, count me as on board with team Judge Wood-Michael Avenatti.
If Cohen is really leaking the recordings, he could be making his legal woes far, far worse.
