For a couple of years now, we haven’t really heard much from the low-laying Vice President Mike Pence. And all things considered, he probably wouldn’t have it any other way. However, considering all the hot water President Donald Trump is finding himself in these days, that could change drastically, especially if Trump were to be ousted from the Oval Office.
The only problem, though, is that if that were to happen, it wouldn’t be a simple transition for Pence because even he is caught in the cross-hairs of the investigation as well, thanks in large part to Kremlin puppet Paul Manafort.
How? Well, it’s certainly no secret that Manafort once strongly urged Donald Trump to choose Mike Pence as his running mate. At the time, the idea didn’t make a ton of sense given his low approval ratings as Governor of Indiana.
However, the more Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s investigation unfolded, and more specifically the more we’ve discovered regarding Manafort’s moves and how a number of them were carefully dictated by the Kremlin, you can’t help but wonder if the push for Pence fits the mold.
Had the Manafort cooperating plea deal not collapsed in recent weeks, perhaps this wouldn’t be left to wonder anymore. But it did, and so here we are.
However, all may not be lost in that regard, as plenty of other people were around when Manafort picked Pence, and the good news: Their cooperating plea deals are still intact. Therefore, odds are high that someone – perhaps Manafort’s longtime sidekick Rick Gates – will give him up to Mueller…if they haven’t already.
But it gets worse for Pence…
If you’ll recall, Mike Pence appeared on national television and said that Michael Flynn never had any contact with the Russian Ambassador during the transition period. We then learned that Congressman Elijah Cummings informed Pence, in writing, weeks earlier. So, why did Pence go out and cover for Flynn? Michael Flynn has already cut a plea deal with Robert Mueller, so he surely knows why by now for sure.
Many people knew before hand that Michael Flynn had deep, deep connections to foreign a government, and this letter contradicts Pence’s previous assertions that he wasn’t aware of potential issues with Flynn.
Scott Dworkin with the Democratic Coalition brought this to our attention and believes Pence should resign:
Below is a copy of the letter sent to Mike Pence on November 18, 2016 by Elijah Cummings:
This is all very, very bad news for Mike Pence…
Why? Because he claimed ignorance about Mike Flynn being a paid foreign agent up until the time Mike Flynn resigned and officially registered as a paid foreign agent.
Politico reported in May this year,“Vice President Mike Pence is standing by his March claim that he learned about Michael Flynn’s Turkish lobbying work through the media, even as a new report indicates Flynn informed the transition team in January that he was under federal investigation for not properly disclosing the paid work.”
“Pence, who ran President Donald Trump’s transition operation, had told Fox News on March 9 that “hearing that story today was the first I heard of it.” He repeated the claim about Flynn’s ties to Turkey later in the interview, and said the revelation affirmed Trump’s decision to fire the national security adviser.”
Well, that isn’t exactly true, is it? Congressman Elijah Cummings brought Mike Flynn’s activities to Pence’s attention back in November 2016 in the letter that was sent to him.
