Trump put most of his cards on the table this week with a memo written and promoted by Devin Nunes.
The memo that has been released was an effort to convince Americans that the FBI and the DOJ had both taken advantage of Carter Page’s rights by putting him under surveillance. In Trump’s mind, this would be the document that “vindicated” him and would give him justification to fire anyone who had been investigating him. The memo is a disaster of epic proportions and has backfired in an amazing way.
Carter Page was a foreign policy adviser for the Trump campaign before he was outed for his ties to the Kremlin. He took a trip to Moscow during the Trump’s campaign and gave a speech praising Vladimir Putin, slammed the United States, and met with Kremlin officials. He even admitted that he was associated with Kremlin spies in New York years ago.
NEW: I just found this video of Carter Page in Moscow, Russia speaking in support of Vladimir Putin, while working on the Trump campaign. He calls the American international affairs strategy “hostile,” then goes on to talk about the “failure of US analysts & leaders” #TrumpRussia pic.twitter.com/LE2T6mMrcC

Trump thought he could sell to the public that somehow the FBI was wrong for placing Carter Page under surveillance. I mean, how dare the FBI place Carter Page – who’s essentially a Russian agent – under surveillance, right? Well, Trump’s plan didn’t work and it just got worse.
Page admitted to being a “Kremlin advisor”, which Time Magazine dug up from 2013.
Former Trump campaign adviser Carter Page bragged that he was an adviser to the Kremlin in a letter obtained by TIME that raises new questions about the extent of Page’s contacts with the Russian government over the years.
The letter, dated Aug. 25, 2013, was sent by Page to an academic press during a dispute over edits to an unpublished manuscript he had submitted for publication, according to an editor who worked with Page.
Page said “Over the past half year, I have had the privilege to serve as an informal advisor to the staff of the Kremlin in preparation for their Presidency of the G-20 Summit next month, where energy issues will be a prominent point on the agenda.”
The President of the United States is now trying to paint the picture that Carter Page is an innocent victim of FBI and DOJ overreach when Page has already confessed to everyone publicly that he’s a Kremlin adviser. We now know Trump hired a Kremlin advisor to his own staff.
This whole Devin Nunes memo circus has blown up in Trump’s face, bigly.
