Trump and his Republican allies in Congress are attacking Special Counsel Robert Mueller in an effort to force him out and/or undermine his investigation. It’s blatantly obvious to anyone paying attention at all.
While some might think the Republican attacks would force Mueller to back off, it appears it has only forced him to do the exact opposite.
According to Yahoo! News, Mueller has turned up the heat even further by targeting the Republican National Committee itself, as well as Jared Kushner and the others who worked on the voter data team. Mueller has ramped up his investigation and is holding back no longer.
Specifically, Mueller has been investigating Cambridge Analytica, which is the voter data analysis firm of the Trump campaign that has been reported to have been behind secret sauce to the scandal. They knew which swing states needed to have voters targeted on Facebook, despite never publicly demonstrating that they actually had the ability or know-how to pull it off.
This company could have been insanely talented and great at targeting, or it could have been working with the Russian hackers and their stolen data. Mueller is trying to get to the bottom of that as we speak. Mueller is now targeting the RNC for its connections to Cambridge Analytica, which essentially means Mueller is targeting the entire Republican party.
Michael Isikoff of Yahoo News is reporting that in the last few week, Mueller prosecutors “have begun questioning Republican National Committee staffers about the party digital operation that worked with the Trump campaign to target voters in key swing states. They are seeking to determine if the joint effort was related to the activities of Russian trolls and bots aimed at influencing the American electorate, according to two of the sources.
In what is potentially another ominous sign for the White House, the lawyer for Jared Kushner, the president’s son in law and senior adviser who was in charge of the campaign’s digital operation, recently began searching for a crisis public relations firm to handle press inquiries — a step frequently taken by people who believe they may be facing criminal charges. (Kushner has denied all wrongdoing, and his lawyer, Abbe Lowell, has said he is cooperating with the Mueller investigation.)”
This move by Mueller also explains the strange way Republicans in Congress are suddenly acting in an attempt to cause problems for Mueller. Devin Nunes, Trey Gowdy and other members of the Trump transition team could all be looking at felonies, so of course they are freaking out.
Bill Palmer points out that, “we received news that Mueller and the FBI have pulled Kushner’s foreign banking records. The sole purpose for this would be to try to connect him financially to Russia, which would establish motive for his series of secret and subsequently covered-up meetings with the Russians during the campaign and transition period. We’ve also learned that Mueller has every email sent and received by every member of the Trump transition team. This comes after we learned that Michael Flynn was keeping the transition team in the loop about his criminal antics with Russia.”
Things are all coming together in a way that ties the entire conspiracy together. Once a few of these players realize just how much trouble they are in, and they cut deals like Flynn, it’s not going to end well for Trump.
