It seems Special Counsel Robert Mueller has a knack for getting the cooperation he needs and is always one step ahead in his investigation into the Trump-Russia scandal. And the latest breaking news is no exception to that, either, as George Nader, a Middle East specialist with ties to Donald Trump’s team, is now cooperating.
Per CNN: George Nader, a low-profile diplomatic go-between who has forged close ties to the Emirates, was stopped and questioned by the FBI at Dulles International Airport in January as he returned from an overseas trip, these sources say. Since then, he has been talking to Mueller’s investigators and providing information to the grand jury.
While there is no indication that Nader is suspected of wrongdoing, his knowledge of key meetings involving the Emiratis and others could be helpful to the special counsel in understanding the inner workings of the transition and possible efforts to influence key figures in the administration.
If this isn’t a household name for you and you’re wondering what key meetings or knowledge he may have, you’re not alone in that regard.
“He is a man of mystery,” said Frederic Hof, director of the Atlantic Council’s Middle East center. “Until this recent flurry of interest in him, I don’t think I’ve even heard his name mentioned for 12 years.”
Nevertheless, it appears his name is worth noting, because when Erik Prince, the brother of Trump’s Secretary of Education Betsy DeVos, held a secret Russia meeting in the Seychelles, George Nader was there. He also has “stunningly authentic contacts” and “prominent ties” in the Middle East, too. And apparently, he is somehow in the center of all the recent stories the media has been reporting about Jared Kushner and Trump’s White House having a pay-for-play relationship with the United Arab Emirates.
In other words, Nader is likely a key ingredient that could take down a whole lot of people in Trump’s inner circle. And Mueller has methodically been working him for the last couple of months.
So, you do the math. If you thought the recent indictments were major developments, just wait. I’m sure it’s only a matter of time before the inner circle crumbles.
