Sean Spicer has blazed headlines for his appearance during the Emmys over the weekend, where he was actually pretty funny. There he stood, before the cameras and the country having a lot of fun while making jokes at his own personal expense.
However, when you look at Spicer away from that setting, the differences in his demeanor are like night and day. But don’t take my word for it. Take Axios reporter Mike Allen’s, one of Spicer’s longtime acquaintances.
It’s already well-noted and established through briefings that Spicer was a copious note-taker during his time with the Trump administration. But according to Allen, apparently he has made a career long habit of it, filling “notebook after notebook” during meetings at the Republican National Committee, later at the Trump campaign, and then at the White House.
Well, now, with Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s investigation of wiretaps underway, all of Spicer’s jokes appear to have been exhausted and/or left behind at the Emmys, as he realizes those copious notes are going to be wanted. As a result, it seems he’s flipping out about it.
Allen says he texted Spicer for comment. Considering he has known Spicer and his wife for more than a decade, he expected a friendly response. But that’s not what he received. Instead, Spicer fired back with
“Mike, please stop texting/emailing me unsolicited anymore. Do not email or text me again. Should you do again I will report to the appropriate authorities”.
As if that weren’t strange enough, Spicer then sent him a follow-up email which said the following:
Per my text:
“Please refrain from sending me unsolicited texts and emails
Should you not do so I will contact the appropriate legal authorities to address your harassment
Sean M Spicer”
This response is a little odd for a longtime acquaintance, don’t you think?
While there is no known evidence to suggest that Sean Spicer was involved in Trump-Russia collusion, he is believed to have participated in numerous meetings and conversations in which Donald Trump committed obstruction of justice by trying to impede the Trump-Russia investigation, making him a key witness…and any notes he may have taken…key evidence.
Perhaps this is why he appears to be all out of jokes and responding to an acquaintance in this manner?
