“Today is the closest Trump has ever come to giving America grounds for his impeachment”, Says Legal Expert

Popular vote loser Donald Trump recently tweeted the following: “As has been stated by numerous legal scholars, I have the absolute right to PARDON myself, but why would I do that when I have done nothing wrong? In the meantime, the never ending Witch Hunt, led by 13 very Angry and Conflicted Democrats (& others) continues into the mid-terms!”

Despite the fact that by “numerous legal scholars,” Trump clearly means people like Michael Cohen and Rudy Giuliani, and the fact that technically one can interpret the constitution to say that he does have that right, most people, including sane legal scholars that understand the constitution better than Trump, know that to pardon himself would be political suicide on a level never seen in American politics.

Seth Abramson is an attorney, professor, writer, and political expert who had this to say about Trump’s threat to pardon himself:

Also, it’s worth noting that Richard Nixon asked the Justice Department if he could pardon himself, they said no and he resigned three days later.

As Representative Adam Schiff  (D. CA) pointed out in his response to Trump’s tweet, that means Trump should resign on Thrusday, if history repeats itself:

Let’s not hold our breath. Trump is too conceited and proud to resign. He’ll fight this until he’s forcibly removed from the White House.
