Adding to the list of incredibly dumb and intentionally controversial things Donald Trump has said recently, on Wednesday, the GOP Presidential nominee said that President Barack Obama was the founder of terrorist group ISIS, and that Hillary Clinton co-founded, CNN reported.
After speaking about the mistake of the US invading Iraq, which he claims to have opposed in spite of blatant and clear video evidence to the contrary, Trump suggested that Obama’s involvement there is what led to the creation of groups like ISIS.
“Normally you want to clean up; he made a bigger mess out of it. He made such a mess. And then you had Hillary with Libya, so sad,” Trump said. “In fact, in many respects, you know they honor president Obama. ISIS is honoring President Obama. He is the founder of ISIS. He’s the founder of ISIS, OK? He’s the founder. He founded ISIS.”
He then said that the “co-founder” of ISIS was Clinton.
Here is what Trump said…
Apparently nobody on the Trump team had the stones to tell him he might want to tone his speech down a little, because this morning on CNBC, Trump doubled down on the ISIS talk. “He was the founder of ISIS, absolutely,” Trump said. “The way he removed our troops — you shouldn’t have gone in. I was against the war in Iraq. Totally against it.”
Except for when you weren’t totally against it, Donald!
There’s a diplomatic way to say that you believe Obama’s policies and middle-east engagement have led to the creation of terror cells, even if it’s still patently wrong, and then there is referring to Obama as the founder of ISIS.
It’s just the level of crazy we’ve come to expect from the flailing campaign lately, if not ramping the crazy up a notch.
