Immediately following the horrific mass murder at Parkland High School in Florida on Wednesday, popular vote loser Donald Trump took to Twitter (sigh) to offer his thoughts.
And his thoughts, as per usual, were stupid, tone deaf and full of flat out hypocrisy.
Trump tweeted this: “So many signs that the Florida shooter was mentally disturbed, even expelled from school for bad and erratic behavior. Neighbors and classmates knew he was a big problem. Must always report such instances to authorities, again and again!”
Not only has Trump just scarred many of these surviving students for life by essentially blaming them for this terrible tragedy and crime, it’s a fairly large chunk of the ol’ Trump hypocrisy, considering that one of his first moves as President was to reverse an Obama era law making it harder for people with mental health issues to acquire firearms.
Sen. Chris Murphy, D-Conn., a leading gun control advocate in Congress, called out Republicans over the move at the time saying:
“Republicans always say we don’t need new gun laws, we just need to enforce the laws already on the books. But the bill signed into law today undermines enforcement of existing laws that Congress passed to make sure the background check system had complete information,” he said in an emailed statement to NBC.
The hypocrisy will surely be lost on Trump.
Donald Trump needs to learn what not to say, which we know will never happen. There are multiple families who are hurting right now and that comment should have never been made.
