Despite his best, long-standing efforts, shouting “no collusion” along the way, it appears Donald Trump’s lies just aren’t holding up these days.
From his son Donald Trump Jr., to son-in-law Jared Kushner, to Jeff Session, to Paul Manafort, there’s plenty of evidence stacked against him at this point, proving that communication took place with various Russian government representatives, all in order to impact the 2016 election. And as bad as that sounds, it’s about to get worse for Trump.
Just three days after Robert Mueller indicted thirteen Russians for interfering and conspiring to rig the election in Trump’s favor, the #TrumpColluded hashtag emerged on Twitter. It quickly rose to the top as most popular trending political topic, and the third most popular trending topic overall. In other words, so much for those “no collusion” claims, Mr. President. Clearly, America doesn’t you.
Oh, and speaking of Twitter, Trump has been busy as ever, tweeting his usual nonsense: “Obama was President up to, and beyond, the 2016 Election. So why didn’t he do something about Russian meddling?”
Wow. So…let me get this straight. It’s somehow President Obama’s fault because he couldn’t intervene and prevent the Trump campaign from conspiring with the Russians to rig the election? That’s some pretty messed up logic, even for Trump.
Also, he probably doesn’t realize this, but with these latest tweets, his timeline of claims has gone from ‘no there was no campaign communication with Russia’, to ‘yes there was communication with Russia but there was no Russian meddling’, to ‘yes there was Russian meddling but there was no collusion’.
It’s not difficult to follow, but one can’t help but wonder what the next admission and excuse will be. Yes there was collusion but…? I guess we’ll just have to stay tuned in order to find out what lies beyond his next “but.”
