Things are getting worse for the Trump administration by the day, and something happened over the weekend that illustrates that better than just about anything – Trump attacked Fox News.
Trump indeed attacked Fox News reporters John Roberts and Gillian Turner for daring to suggest that he isn’t a genius for his plan to build a border wall. It’s not even entirely clear what coverage Trump was referring to, but he went after the two on Twitter:
Trump’s comments come after just days of signing a continuing resolution to reopen the government after his 35-day shutdown. Congress failed to reach an agreement on a new spending bill, so the funding lapse triggered the shutdown.
Trump wants a long-term bill to be agreed upon that includes funds for his border wall, but Democrats are not giving in. Trump expressed doubts to The Wall Street Journal on Sunday that lawmakers could come to an agreement.
“I personally think it’s less than 50-50, but you have a lot of very good people on that board,” Trump said, adding that another shutdown is “certainly an option.”
The closer we get to the end of this nightmare, the fewer allies Trump will have. Losing Fox News would be a huge blow to Trump, and great news for America.
