Trump has done a lot of unintelligent things publicly and it appears he doesn’t intend to stop any time soon. Just this past week he made a move with Germany-based Deutsche Bank that some are calling a bribe attempt in an effort to get them to cover for him.
Trump had the Labor Department waive harsh penalties that had been previously placed on the Bank. Special Counsel Robert Mueller has been trying to get his hands on this bank’s financial records of Trump and his son-in-law Jared Kushner, so this was an exceptionally ignorant move on Trump’s part.
Deutsche Bank has given Trump and Kushner suspicious loans and it’s already been busted for laundering billions of dollars in Russian money to the U.S. These loans are being seen by some as a way a way the Kremlin funneled money into the US, that eventually made it’s way to the Trump family.
Trump having these penalties on the bank removed put up a giant red flag for Robert Mueller, but it also backfired in a big a way.
After Trump’s actions with the bank, the German government cracked down even harder on Deutsche Bank. They forced the bank to turn over “questionable transactions involving President Trump’s son-in-law Jared Kushner, or people or businesses near him.” The German outlet Handelsblatt Global said that they’ve already turned those records over to Mueller as well. Things are not looking good for Trump.
Had things not unfolded (and backfired) like they did, Mueller would have had to jump through several more hoops to get his hands on the records that were just handed to him. Now he’s going to be able to move even quicker, which is not what Trump was hoping would happen.
