Trump’s White House Chief of Staff John Kelly has been caught covering up Rob Porter’s domestic abuse scandal and now many people are calling for his resignation. If this wasn’t bad enough, members of Trump’s own White House are also turning on Kelly.
During Anthony Scaramucci’s brief time as Communications Director, he forced out former Chief of Staff Reince Priebus. This paved the way for John Kelly to come on board who in turn fired Scaramucci. Mooch then fired himself and now it looks like its all circling back to Kelly.
Scaramucci is still one of Trump’s political advisers and he’s now demanding that Kelly needs to resign. Mooch tweeted “Based on FBI testimony, WH Chief of Staff John Kelly almost certainly knew about credible allegations of domestic abuse against Rob Porter at least 6 months ago – then recently forced others to lie about that timeline. Inexcusable. Kelly must resign.”
This all comes on the heels of a testimony from FBI Director Christopher Wray given to the Senate Intelligence Committee on Tuesday, which raises new new questions about what people in the White House knew about the allegations of Porter’s domestic abuse. The White House claims Porter was left on staff pending a background check, but the FBI Director says the check was completed weeks ago.
Things are obviously very tense in Trump’s administration and those close to it. Between those who are cutting deals with Mueller and others attacking each other via social media, it’s only a matter of time before the entire group self destructs.
