Stephanie Grisham has been the White House press secretary for about six weeks, yet most people don’t even know she exists. She has not held one televised briefing, but she’s already willing to cover for her boss in public.
Grisham has participated in one on-camera interview since July and she’s already known as someone we can’t trust to be 100% objective in her job. Grisham clearly wasn’t trying to be known for lying this quickly, but that’s what happened this week when Trump put her foot in her mouth for her.
On Thursday, Donald Trump demanded that Israel forbid Reps. Ilhan Omar (D-MN) and Rashida Tlaib (D-MI) from visiting the country. This disgusting move was so bad that even as Grisham tried to lie about it, she simply called the story inaccurate. Trump jumped on Twitter within the hour to accidentally prove her wrong by saying, “It would show great weakness if Israel allowed Rep. Omar and Rep. Tlaib to visit.”

Being Trump’s handler is clearly a full-time job and clearly not a job anyone loves to do. No one can survive as press secretary for Donald Trump, as it’s impossible job to babysit him constantly. Sanders probably only made it as long as she did because no one was willing to risk their reputation like her. Trump clearly doesn’t care who he offends or who he takes down in the process of offending others. Good luck to Grisham, we will see how long she lasts.
