One person who might be feeling the heat of the possibility of Michael Flynn testifying on the Trump administration’s ties to Russia is Vice-President Mike Pence.
Pence keeps playing dumb about all this Russia business, but he was in charge of vetting Trump’s staff, including Flynn. Pence told CBS in January “They did not discuss anything having to do with the United States’ decision to expel diplomats or impose censure against Russia” And that the reports accusing the former national security advisor of being a foreign agent were “the first I heard of it.”
That was not exactly the truth, however. There’s a much bigger story here than most realize, but Rachel Maddow just broke it down perfectly.
Maddow connected the dots between Flynn and Pence on her show, and it puts a giant spotlight on the fact that Mike Pence is hiding something:
Also, let’s not forget, according to CNN:
In a private meeting January 26, [Sally] Yates told White House Counsel Don McGahn that Flynn was lying when he denied in public and private that he had discussed US sanctions on Russia in conversations with Russian Ambassador to the US Sergei Kislyak.
Flynn’s misleading comments, Yates said, made him potentially vulnerable to being compromised by Russia, according to sources familiar with her version of events. She expressed “serious concerns” to McGahn, making it clear — without making a recommendation — that Flynn could be fired.
Clearly, the White House is hiding something and Mike Pence looks to be the one that’s going to take the fall.
