We’ve all known since this long national nightmare began with his announcement of running for President that popular vote loser Donald Trump had serious issues with the truth, i.e., he is incapable of telling it. But until now, we’ve wondered if he is just a pathological liar, too ignorant to know he’s lying, or some combination thereof.
Well, now we know. Trump is well aware of his proclivity for making up facts. In fact, he’s been bragging at a fundraiser about how he made up facts while meeting with Canadian PM Justin Trudeau.
Trump told several people at a fundraising dinner that he insisted that the U.S. had a trade deficit with Canada, but that he didn’t know if that was true or not, which was caught on leaked audio of the speech obtained by the Washington Post.
“Trudeau came to see me. He’s a good guy. Justin. He said ‘No, no, we have no trade deficit with you, we have none. Donald, please,’” Trump said. “Nice guy, good looking guy, comes in — ‘Donald we have no trade deficit.’”
“I said, ‘Wrong Justin, you do.’ I didn’t even know. … I had no idea. I just said ‘You’re wrong.’ You know why? Because we’re so stupid. … And I thought they were smart. I said, ‘You’re wrong Justin,’” Trump continued.
“He said, ‘Nope we have no trade deficit.’ I said, ‘Well in that case I feel differently,’ I said, ‘but I don’t believe it.’ I sent one of our guys out, his guy, my guy, they went out, I said ‘Check because I can’t believe it,’” he said.
“‘Well sir you’re actually right. We have no deficit but that doesn’t include energy and timber … And when you do we lose $17 billion a year.’ It’s incredible.”
There you have it, folks. The President of the United States of America admitting that he had no idea what he was talking about, but persisted in his lie anyway. And to someone who is far, far more intelligent and knowledgeable than he is, too.
Am I the only one that is just completely over the President making the US the biggest international embarrassment we’ve ever been?
