Several quotes have been released of Steve Bannon accusing Donald Trump and his minions of “treason” and other various crimes. Surprisingly, Trump didn’t attack Bannon via twitter immediately, instead he’s taking legal action against him. This will not end quietly.
According to ABC News, Trump’s attorneys sent a cease and desist letter to Bannon earlier this week. We aren’t totally clear on what he’s supposed to cease and desist, but Trump’s legal team is clearly going after Bannon for “defamation by libel and slander”.
Apparently, there was a “confidentiality and non-disparagement agreement” between the two and Trump is not happy about these latest developments.
This isn’t just a hollow Twitter threat, Trump really had his attorneys take legal action against a person who was one of his closest advisers at one point in time. The President of the United States just sent a cease and desist letter to someone who was ratting him and his team out for wrongdoing.
Trump’s attorney Charles J. Harder, said in a statement, “This law firm represents President Donald J. Trump and Donald J. Trump for President, Inc. On behalf of our clients, legal notice was issued today to Stephen K. Bannon, that his actions of communicating with author Michael Wolff regarding an upcoming book give rise to numerous legal claims including defamation by libel and slander, and breach of his written confidentiality and non-disparagement agreement with our clients. Legal action is imminent.”
Bannon has not shared all his intel just yet, but it’s been speculated he’s already cut a deal, so we will find out all the details eventually. Trump’s goal is clearly to make Bannon stop talking, but if we know Bannon, this will not work.
Trump is beginning to panic and he’s going to start making even more moves like this as more people turn on him.
